GENERAL RULES

All GIRLS Softball uses January 1st birthday Cut-off.

10 U Girls Fast – Pitch Softball 12 U Girls Fast – Pitch Softball
14 U Girls Fast – Pitch Softball 16 U Girls Fast – Pitch Softball
18 U Girls Fast – Pitch Softball Only Girls can play in this division.

GIRLS FAST-PITCH FIELD

CIRCLE: 12ft diameter x 6ft radius

BASES: 60ft

PITCHING RUBBER:

10U – 35ft from back of home plate

12U – 40ft from back of home plate

14/16/18U – 45 from back of home plate

It is the Tennessee State Law that TYBA and any/all youth sports must comply with the Tennessee Code Annotated Section 68-55-503 relative to youth sports.

These rules apply to all age groups.

LEAGUE PLAY ** If you are not going to have enough players to play a game and you as Head Coach know this in advance — A 24 HOUR NOTICE IS REQUIRED– Contact your League President and discuss your situation and there is a possiblity to reschedule your game.( Except Tournament Play ). If your team shows up to a game and you do not have enough players to play and the game time is called it will result in a Forfeit. If you know you are not going to have enough players to play the game and need to pick up a 1 player or 2 players you MUST pull players from a age division lower then your age group you are playing in — example : You coach 11 & 12 you must get players from 9 & 10 year old division — You CAN NOT get players from other teams in same age group or borrow players from the team you are playing – Nor can you pull players from the stands that is there watching the game, Nor can you pull from another community team. — That is not a legal game!! — FORFEIT is result of game !!

COACH – PITCH DIVISIONS consist of ( 10 ) players can play with ( 9 ) and take an out each time.

KID – PITCH & SOFTBALL DIVISIONS consist of ( 9 ) players can play with ( 8 )

A team must finish the game with the same number of players that they started the game with. Penalty will be forfeiture of the game.

Five Run Rule: On the play that the 5th run scores, all runs that score will be counted. Maximum is 8 runs per inning. Game will end when it is numerically impossible to tie or win.

On Deck Batter: Must be in the on deck circle behind the batter at the plate.

Catcher: Must wear a helmet with a mask and throat protector permanently attached, chest protector and shin guards.

Conferencing: A defensive team is allowed 1 charged conference per inning. Upon a 2nd time out being called for a conference, the pitcher shall be removed from the pitching position for the remainder of the game, however, she may remain in the line-up and assume another defensive position.

Courtesy Runner: 1 courtesy runner is allowed per inning for either the pitcher or catcher. Runner must be the last player put out by the defensive team.

Extra Hitter: A EH may be used in your Line – Up and may enter the game defensively at any time without notifying the umpire unless going to the pitcher position.

Bats: Bats must have 1.20 BPF stamp on it.

Cleats: Are not required. If worn, they cannot be metal with the exception of 14U-18U.

Intentional Walk: Batter may be intentionally walked by notifying the plate umpire. No pitches are required. Exception: no intentional walks in 10 U girls.

Time Outs: Only the head coach can call time out during the game and/or approaching the umpire. This must be done prior to crossing the baseline into the field of play and only after a dead ball situation. The inappropriate use of rule could constitute ejection from the game.

Bunting: Bunting is allowed. Bunting foul on 3rd strike will result in the batter being called out.

Regulation Game: A regulation game will consist of 6 innings or 1 hour time limit. A regulation game cannot end with a tie. Extra innings will be played as needed to determine the winner.

Called Game: The game will be called when it is numerically impossible for the losing team to win or tie, or time expires. Time is called after the completion of a full inning. The time will start for the next inning as soon as the 3rd out of the previous inning is made. If it is possible for the losing team to win or tie, time has not expired, and 6 innings not completed, the next inning must be played.

International Rule: Will be used in the case of tie after 6 innings or expiration of time. Last batted out will be placed on 2nd base in the first extra inning, 2nd and 3rd in 2nd extra inning, bases will be loaded after that.

Tournament Run Rule is in affect: When it is Mathematically impossible to win the game, the game will be called.

REC LEAGUE & TOURNAMENT CHAMPIONSHIP GAMES — 1 HOUR TIME LIMIT OR 6 INNINGS


10 & UNDER GIRLS

AGE: Player cannot be 11 years old before Jan 1st.

Time Limit: 1 hour or 6 innings, whichever comes first.

Tournament Run Rule is in affect: When it is Mathematically impossible to win the game, the game will be called.

15 runs after 2

12 runs after 3

10 runs after 4

Base Path: 60 feet. There will be a running lane beginning 30 feet from home plate and extending past 1st base, it shall be 3 feet to the right of 1st base.

Circle: Will be drawn or can be used from coach-pitch field. It shall be 12 ft in diameter and 6 ft radius.

Pitching Rubber: 35 feet from the back of home plate.

Pitches:

A: There will be 5 warm up pitches delivered by a starting or new pitcher, only 2 per inning after that.

B: There will be 4 pitches by player pitcher and 3 per coach pitcher per batter. Balls and Strikes apply to the player pitcher; only Strikers to the coach pitcher.

Ball: Must be an approved 11″ softball.

Bunting: Will be allowed.

Third Dropped Strike: will NOT be in effect. Batter is out.

Infield Fly Rule: will NOT be in effect

Intentional Walk: There will be no intentional walks.

Pitching: Pitcher may not step on the rubber without being in possession of the ball. Both feet must remain in contact with the rubber prior to the delivery of the pitch. Pitch must be delivered in underhand motion and pitcher must not make more than 2 revolutions of the arm before delivering the pitch.

Base Runner: Once the pitcher has possession of the ball inside the circle, runners must commit to the next base or return to the previously occupied base. No cat and mouse games. Penalty is the runner will be called out.

Stealing: Will be allowed. Runner must remain in contact with the base until ball reaches the vicinity of home plate. Runners may only steal 1 base per pitch and cannot steal home plate.

International Rule: will be effect in the case of a tie. Refer to general rules.

5 RUN RULE LIMIT: Will apply to Girls Fast – Pitch Softball per inning. (Possibly scoring total of 8 runs.)

12/14/16/18U Girls Fast Pitch Softball

Age:

A. 12U Cannot be 13 years old before January 1st.

B. 14U Cannot be 15 years old before January 1st.

C. 16U Cannot be 17 years old before January 1st.

D. 18U Cannot be 19 years old before January 1st.

Time Limit: 1 hour or 6 innings, whichever comes first.

Tournament Run Rule is in affect: When it is Mathematically impossible to win the game, the game will be called.

Base Path: 60 feet. There will be a running lane beginning 30 feet from home plate and extending past 1B that will be 3 feet to the right of 1B.

Circle: Will be drawn or can be used from coach- pitch field 12 feet in diameter and 6 foot radius.

Pitching Rubber:

A. 12U 40 feet from the back of home plate.

B. 14/16/18U: 46 feet from the back of home plate.

Pitches: There will be 5 warm up pitches delivered by a starting or new pitcher, only 2 per inning after that.

Ball: Will be an approved 12″ softball.

Line-Up: Will consist of 9 players, however a EH can be used. In case of injury or illness a team will be allowed to finish with 8 players. When the sick or injured player becomes the batter, an out will be called.

Run Limit: Will be in effect, refer to general rules.

International Rule: Will be in effect, refer to general rules.

Bunting: Will be allowed.

Third Dropped Strike: Will be in effect.

Infield Fly Rule: Will be in effect.

Intentional Walk: Will be allowed. Pitcher does not have to pitch to the batter, coach only needs to notify umpire of intent to walk batter.
